Laxman’s ODI dream not over yet
V.V.S. Laxman

Hyderabad: V.V.S. Laxman on Thursday said he was disappointed at being left out of the ODI squad for the tri-series in Australia but would wait till the selectors feel he is good enough for both versions of the game.

Just after being dropped, the middle-order batsman had told The Telegraph on January 21 that he was disappointed but had no plans of quitting.

“I am disappointed that I am not part of the one-day side. But I am looking forward to do well in both forms of the game… Whenever the selectors feel that I will fit into the scheme of the things, I will be more than happy to play my role,” Laxman said here on Thursday.

“It is a great opportunity for a lot of youngsters to do well. Playing against Australia in Australia is a great challenge,” he said.

Talking about the recently-concluded Test series, Laxman said he is disappointed that India lost.

“Overall… I think the result was a little disappointing. We went with a goal of winning the series but we lost it.

“It was pretty disappointing. But I am proud with the way we all played there, especially after the Sydney Test… The way we played in Perth and the Adelaide. I think it is very satisfying,” he said.

On his performance in the recently concluded Test series, Laxman said he was very satisfied at being able to do well against Australia, the world champions, and that too in trying conditions.

“I’m satisfied with the performances. I am satisfied with the consistency I showed throughout the series. Some of the knocks I played in tough situations were very satisfying,” he said. (PTI)
