Blockade tomorrow
Guwahati, Jan. 25:
The Joint Adivasi Action Committee, pressing for PM- level talks on Scheduled Tribe status for the community, has called a 12-hour economic blockade in Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Sunday.
Rebels killed
Guwahati
: Two Ulfa militants were killed in an encounter with the army at the Dibru-Saikhowa reserve forest in Tinsukia on Friday. One of them has been identified as Dhajiya Gogoi.
ISI agent
Guwahati:
Sleuths from the Special Branch of Assam police on Thursday picked up Hafiz Rafiqul Islam, 30, from the Gauhati University campus for working as a conduit for the ISI. He was doubling as a professor of Arabic at a college in Barpeta.
