UK team signs Armaan

Calcutta: UK-based David Price Racing (DPR) has signed up Armaan Ebrahim to compete in the 2008 GP2 Asia series.

Armaan is the youngest driver to finish in the top three in the Formula Renault V6 Asia Series and is a national racing and national and Asia karting champion.

Armaan finished with five first places, two second places and two third places in the Formula Renault V6 Asia championship. He also drove for A1 Team India in the 2006-07 season.

Speaking at a press conference, Armaan said: “I am thankful to JK Tyre and all my sponsors who have been working hard to improve (my) standards and encourage me with incredible backing...

“David Price is one of the most popular and highly respected professionals in the pit lane and revered for his long and successful career. For them (DPR) to have opted to run me is a huge confidence boost.

“The guys in the team are real racers at heart. They have been very welcoming and I’m really delighted and proud to be sitting here today as a DPR driver,” he said.

Price said in a statement: “The whole concept of the Asian GP2 series was to help promote drivers from different areas, and I am extremely pleased that DPR have secured the services of one of the most promising young talents to emerge from India.”
