Woman shot at

New Delhi, Jan. 4 (PTI): An unidentified man allegedly pumped two bullets into the head of a 35-year-old woman at Patel Nagar today. Her condition is critical.

Anita Arora was shot at allegedly by the man in his twenties around 7.30am at her house in west Delhi, a police official said. The motive behind the crime was not known. Her husband, Avinash Arora, who runs a milk booth near the house, said he was not at home when the incident occurred.

ADMK order

Chennai (PTI): Madras High Court has postponed the death sentences of three ADMK activists convicted of burning several passengers of a bus alive. The Supreme Court is yet to decide the convicts’ appeal against their sentence.

‘Rapist’ cop

Hassan (PTI): A police constable was thrashed by a group of people on Friday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Karnataka’s Hassan. Sashi had allegedly dragged the girl who was waiting for a bus to a nearby railway track and sexually assaulted her.

Flight delay

Kochi (PTI): An Air India flight was delayed by seven hours on Thursday because of a road accident involving the flight crew. The crew members were not injured but apparently too “disturbed” to fly. Alternate crew was arranged to operate the Ethiopia-bound flight.

Sonia stable

New Delhi (PTI): Sonia Gandhi continued to be in hospital for the fourth day on Friday. “Sonia Gandhi, who is suffering from chest infection, is making steady progress. Her condition is stable. She has been advised to continue her rest,” said B.K.Rao, chairman of the board of Sir Gangaram Hospital, where she is admitted.

Temple shield

New Delhi (PTI): Security at the Akshardham temple in the capital was beefed up on Friday after police received intelligence inputs that Kashmiri militants were planning to blow it up. Deputy commissioner of police Alok Kumar, however, did not name the group.
