Kin take drowned child body
The body of three-year-old Nawaz Ali, who died after falling into the water tank of a house in Patwar Bagan Lane, in the Amherst Street police station area, on Wednesday evening, was handed over to his parents after post-mortem on Thursday. Police said no case was initiated, as Aliís parents and grandparents had not lodged any complaint.
A decomposed body, identified as that of Rajesh Singh, was recovered from a dumping ground at Chandmari, Bally, around noon on Thursday. A ragpicker girl found a hand sticking out from the ground near a bush and informed local residents, who alerted police.
A 25-year-old vagrant was rescued by a team from Baranagar police station from the Dunlop crossing on Thursday. Police said the woman was found unconscious near the crossing early on Thursday. She was taken to BN Bose Hospital, where she died.
