RTI blow
New Delhi, Dec. 25 (PTI): Citizens cannot invoke the right to information act to seek opinions and advice from the government on the interpretation of a law, the countrys apex RTI body has held.
The Central Information Commission ruling came on a retired senior officers plea seeking from the Centre an interpretation of an income-tax act provision. The clause dealt with tax exemption limits on rent payable by an assessee.
Boy attacked
Sonepat (PTI): A local BJP leaders son was allegedly kidnapped and beaten up by three students on his way home from school, police said. Sandeep, a Class X student and son of Mohan Lal Baroli, was found in an injured condition.
Kamal Nath
Bhopal (PTI): A court has issued a bailable warrant against Union commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath. He has been asked to appear as a witness in a case against two persons who had allegedly used his fake letterheads to seek promotion at the Bhopal Development Authority.
Passport row
Srinagar (PTI): Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against three persons, including an employee of the passport office, accusing them of arranging a fake passport for the deputy chief of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, Abu Talha.
Lioness death
Amreli (PTI): The carcass of a lioness was found in the Dhari range of the Gir sanctuary in Gujarat on Tuesday, forest department officials said. The lioness was about five years old and may have died of cold. All the body parts of the animal were intact, they
added.
Kids drown
Namakkal (PTI): Two children drowned in a pond near a quarry here in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, police said. The children were seven and four years. Their parents were working at the quarry when the incident occurred.
