Schoolboy held for kidnap

Calcutta, Dec. 25: A Class XI student who had allegedly kidnapped an eight-year-old boy was arrested last night while accepting a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from the victim’s father at a burial ground in North 24-Parganas.

Cornered, an unarmed Biswajit De took policemen to the part of the ground where Kripanidhi Chowdhury was lying with his hands tied in the back and mouth gagged.

The police said Biswajit had lured Kripanidhi into accompanying him with the promise of a chocolate around 4pm yesterday. The little boy was playing with his friend outside his flat at the LIC complex in Madhyamgram. Biswajit later called Kripanidhi’s father, who owns a stationery shop in Barasat, and asked for the ransom. The father went to the police.
