Chennai: Prakash Amritraj and Vishnu Vardhan have been given wild cards to the Chennai Open beginning on Monday.
This is the sixth consecutive time that Prakash, currently ranked No. 269 in the world, has received a wild card in the ATP meet. Vishnu, on the other hand, got it as he won the national grasscourt title in Calcutta on Saturday.
IMG, owners and organisers of the tournament which is sponsored by a consortium of companies, has given the third main draw wild card to Bartolome Salva Vidal. The young Spaniard had got one in the last edition as well.
Yuki Bhambri, a talented 13-year-old from Delhi, has been granted a wild card in the qualifiers. Yuki topped the AITA under-16 rankings and was No. 3 among under-18 boys.
Prakash said he was looking forward to playing at home. This years field is the toughest but I am looking forward to giving my best playing alongside the likes of Nadal, Malisse, Baghdatis, Moya.
