Sense of synesthesia
The present exhibition reveals a unwontly serious aspect of Paresh Maity’s explorations— his subversion of the expectation that the viewer has of the artist. We see the classical painter becoming the sculptor and the contemporary painter as a photographer. Maity’s talent is revealed in the treatment of the different media he uses. His installations are virtually three-dimensional paintings and his photographs seems a digital watercolour. One could very well describe this artist and his works as ‘romantic’ since we see the frame and the content perfectly in tandem in the flourish of Maity’s finesse. The ongoing show has his drawings, paintings, sculptures and photographs.
