Motorcyclist dies under truck
Hafiz Mollah, 41, a resident of Jagatballavpur, in Howrah, was crushed under the wheels of a truck when his motorcycle dashed against the heavy vehicle on Sunday morning. The accident took place on National Highway 6 near Jaypur, in the Liluah police station area. Police said the truck was changing lanes through a cut on the highway. The driver fled the spot.
South Eastern Railway is running special trains from Howrah to Puri and Howrah to Yesvantpur from December 22 to January 8 to cope up with the winter rush.
he train to Puri will leave at 6.20pm on December 24 and 8.55pm on December 25 and January 1. The train for Yesvantpur will leave at 4.10pm on December 28.
Akram Mollah, a Watgunge resident, was arrested in Bowbazar on Saturday night for drunk driving and violating the traffic signal.
Subrata Kundu, 42, died when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a truck near Sodepur on Saturday night. Tapan, who was riding pillion, was critically injured.
