Box Office

Nancy Drew

The books may be bestsellers, but the movie has no takers. Nancy Drew — detailing the detective pursuits of the teenage American sleuth — has had a poor opening week at the box-office.

Pro: A chance to see the teen icon on the big screen
Con: Lacks the punch of the Nancy Drew books

Om Shanti Om

The Om Shanti Om magic continues to lure movie buffs with the tribute to cinema in the 70s getting ready for a long innings on city screens.

Pro: SRK and Deepika; plenty of laughs; the music
Con: The second half; the ending

Saawariya

Not having found favour with cinegoers or critics, the occupancy ratings for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s surrealist drama have dipped further in Week Two.

Pro: Ranbir Kapoor; the sets; the music
Con: Too little happens over too long

Jab We Met

Cashing in on the Sawaariya debacle, Jab We Met continues to pull in the crowds in Week Four.

Pro: The Shahid-Kareena chemistry; the music; an engaging first half
Con: A not-so-gripping second half

Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Akshay Kumar can’t do anything wrong this year. The box-office collections are proof of that, yet again. This comedy-meets-psychological thriller continues to spell magic at the box-office.

Pro: Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan; the music; some moments
Con: Not the usual Priyadarshan comedy; Shiney Ahuja
