Calcutta, Nov 21: The city will play host to an international symposium on steel from tomorrow.

A large delegation from Australia will be participating in the meet.

The team will be led by Ian McDonald, minister for mineral resources, New South Wales, Australia.

The annual meet, called Global Steel, is being organised by Steel RX, a Gujarat NRE Coke company, and the Indian Chamber of Commerce from November 22-24.

Arun Kumar Jagatramka, vice-chairman of Gujarat NRE Coke, said the symposium would discuss various issues on steel making.

The meet is being held for the first time in the city, highlighting the rise of Bengal in the steel map of the country.
