CBI veers to suicide

New Delhi, Nov. 18: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has more or less concluded that Rizwanur Rahman was driven to suicide.

Sources said that the agency, now in the process of wrapping up the investigation, would charge one or more close relatives of Priyanka Todi with abetment to suicide.

The CBI found that Priyanka’s relatives had exerted pressure to keep Rizwanur away from his wife, the sources said.

The agency feels that the role of some senior police officers was questionable, and will recommend departmental action against at least two.

According to the sources, the CBI had received forensic reports on Rizwanur’s mobile SIM cards and computer hard disks, which had been sent to a Hyderabad laboratory.

“Rizwanur was literally driven to suicide, and the people who drove him to it will be charged,” a CBI officer said.
