Infant body fished out of lake

Ranchi, Nov. 13: A day before Children’s Day, a fishermen recovered the body of a one-month-old male child from Ranchi Lake this afternoon.

The fisherman, while taking part in the Chhath clean-up drive, hauled the body. There was no injury mark on the body and it appeared that someone had thrown it into the water yesterday.

Sources said: “Fishermen used a fishing net to haul the body from the pond.”

A fishermen said a few Hindpiri residents took the body before police arrived.

“Several people were watching the clean-up drive. When the body was hauled, someone in the crowd noticed and took it before police could be informed,” the fisherman said.

Officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station A. Chaturvedi said “We got the information from our source, but when I sent our police team, it returned empty-handed.”
