Day for children

Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi will inaugurate a show by underprivileged children at University Institute Hall, 6pm. Schoolchildren will donate rice and grains for the people of Nandigram, on Park Street (off St Xavier’s main gate), 11am to 1pm. Cultural show, organised by Friends of Animals, at EZCC’s Aikyatan complex, Salt Lake, 6pm. Creative art exhibition by children at Malanga Lane Athletic Club, Abhoy Halder Lane, 11am to 5pm. Wall clock and menu card-making session at Crossword bookstore, 4pm. Show of hand shadowgraphy by artistes Amar and Sabyasachi at Tollygunge Club, 5pm.

Books

National Book Trust presents India’s National Children and Youth Book Fair at Park Circus Maidan, 11am to 8pm. Open session on higher education in France at French Association, 217 AJC Bose Road, 2pm.

Film fest

Screening of Conversations, a short film by Sangita Sultania, as part of Calcutta Film Festival at Jibanananda Sabhaghar, Bangla Akademi, 6pm.

Medicine

Inauguration of department of biochemistry and medical biotechnology at Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine, 10am.

Art watch
