Neighbour’s pride

A deadpan Jaaved Jaaferi says he is seriously contemplating making a movie with all his neighbours. For once, he could really be serious. The star cast of Jaaved’s neighbourhood reads thus — Bhushan Kumar (of T-series fame) lives on the floor above, Shekhar Suman on the floor below the break-dancing funnyman. In the next wing reside Priyanka Chopra and Himesh Reshammiya (so that takes care of the music too). And in another wing lives Alka Yagnik with Manoj Bajpai set to move in soon. “So, you see, I can easily make a film with my neighbours,” says Jaaved. Sorry? Egggjactly!

Advantage Amritraj

Tennis player-turned-film producer Ashok Amritaj is currently in India for his latest venture, The Other Side Of The Line, starring Jesse Metcalfe and Shriya Saran. The brother of Vijay Amritraj, who has made a name in Hollywood, was whole-hearted in his praise of Bollywood — not the term, but the talent. “I think Bollywood films are great; I don’t like the word Bollywood but the films are great,” said Ashok. “Indian cinema is growing a lot. Hollywood and Indian cinema are running on parallel tracks. I do think talents from both sides of the world can work together.” Time for mixed doubles, Mr Amritraj?
