SUBJECT: The institute invites applications for its new two-year full-time MA programme in media and cultural studies. The programme will be taught at TISS’s independent Centre for Media and Cultural Studies.

ELIGIBILITY: Those with a three-year bachelors degree or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study) or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirement of 15 years of formal education from a recognised university may apply for admission.

PARTICULARS: The application form and information brochure can be obtained by sending a request letter to the deputy registrar, along with a demand draft for Rs 750 drawn in favour of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and a self-addressed A4-sized cloth-lined envelope or by visiting the institute’s website (the downloaded form should be completed and submitted with a demand draft for the requisite amount).

UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION (UGC), NEW DELHI

SUBJECT: UGC invites applications for the award of the 12-month Commonwealth split-site doctoral scholarships for the academic year 2008 offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK. Scholarships are available in all disciplines including medicine and dentistry.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants should be citizens of India and hold by October 1, 2008, a first degree of upper second class honours standard (or above) or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification.

PARTICULARS: The scholarships will commence from October 1, 2008 in the UK. Other details of the scholarships along with the prescribed application forms are available in all universities, institutes, UGC regional offices and the UGC headquarters. Details of the scholarships can also be downloaded from the UGC website www.ugc.ac.in. Eligible candidates should apply in the prescribed format duly nominated by the vice-chancellor / executive head of the university / institute along with the office seal.
