Bata profit rises

Bata India Ltd posted a net profit of Rs 9.5 crore in the third quarter ended September 2007 compared with Rs 6.1 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company reported a turnover of Rs 206.6 crore in the quarter against Rs 178.6 crore a year ago, a 15.7 per cent increase. The company said initiatives such as investments in large format stores and trendy collections have contributed to the increase in sales.

Texmaco

Texmaco registered a profit before tax of Rs 19.14 crore in the second quarter of this fiscal against Rs 9.83 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Gross sales stood at Rs 216 crore compared with Rs 101 crore a year ago.

Thermax

Thermax Ltd clocked net profits of Rs 69 crore in the second quarter of this fiscal compared with Rs 35 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Total income increased to Rs 781 crore from Rs 491 crore a year ago.

Mico profit

Motor Industries Company (Mico) has posted a net profit of Rs 136.75 crore for the quarter ended September 30 compared with Rs 125.35 crore a year ago, an increase of 9.09 per cent. Total income rose 4.62 per cent to Rs 1,068.33 crore for the quarter against Rs 1,021.11 crore last fiscal.

Bhushan Steel

Bhushan Steel registered a net profit of Rs 103.41 crore in the quarter ended September 30 against Rs 69.59 crore a year ago, a 49 per cent rise. Total sales stood at Rs 1,184.84 crore in the period.

OCL India

OCL India Ltd has clocked a profit after tax of Rs 20.31 crore in the quarter ended September 30 compared with Rs 11.08 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Profit before tax stood at Rs 30.59 crore against Rs 16.71 crore a year ago. EBIDTA was Rs 45.5 crore against Rs 33.09 crore a year ago.

Voltas

Voltas Ltd registered a profit after tax of Rs 53.58 crore in the quarter ended September 30 against Rs 25 crore in the same period a year ago. Profit before tax and exceptional items rose 124 per cent to Rs 69.57 crore compared with Rs 31.02 crore.

LIC Housing

LIC Housing Finance Ltd has recorded a net profit of Rs 116.37 crore in the second quarter of this fiscal against Rs 75.93 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a 53 per cent increase. Total income was Rs 527 crore in the period compared with Rs 385 crore a year ago.

TVS pact

TVS and Italian firm Novotema have entered into a joint venture to manufacture and distribute a range of specialty elastomer parts for sealing applications.
