Pune, Oct 24 (PTI): A young IT professional mistakenly picked up for posting obscene images of Shivaji on Orkut has been released after 50 days behind bars.

Pune police picked up Laxman Kailas from his Bangalore home on August 31 on the basis of an information provided by Airtel, from which the 27-year-old had taken a Web connection to his laptop.

That information, known as the internet protocol number, turned out to be incorrect.

The young executive was freed on Saturday and his name removed from the list of accused.

A local BJP activist had filed the case.

Three persons arrested recently from Bangalore said they didn’t know Laxman. The fresh arrests were made with inputs from Google and Yahoo.
