Tthe Hamdard College of Pharmacy was set up in New Delhi in 1972 with the objective of providing education and training in all branches of pharmacy. In 1989, Jamia Hamdard received the status of deemed university.

Eligibility

Students should have passed the Senior Secondary examination (Class XII or Intermediate) with physics, chemistry and biology from the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination recognised by Jamia Hamdard as equivalent, securing at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate in the three science subjects. You should not be more than 23 years of age as on October 1 of the year of examination.

Entrance exam

Students who are interested in taking admission to the BPharm programme have to sit for a combined entrance test (CET). This is conducted at the end of May in the cities of Ahmedabad, Kozhikode, Delhi, Lucknow, Patna and Srinagar.

Pattern of exam

The test is designed to assess an applicant’s knowledge of physics, chemistry and biology as well as his or her general knowledge. The syllabus as well as the standard of questions will be that of the qualifying examination, that is, of the Plus Two level. Students will be selected on the basis of merit determined only by their performance in the written test.

How to prepare

To ace the admission test, you need to know the basic concepts well. Revise the Plus Two science syllabus thoroughly. Practise answering questions within a set time. Guides by various publishers, such as Parihar, Bhatia, Shivam and Vishal, for the medical entrance exams will provide you a comprehensive question bank.

You can also practise questions on biology from books by M.P. Kaushik and Ramesh Gupta.

To ace the questions on physics and chemistry, some of the books you can refer to are Physics 10+2 by H.C. Verma and Chemistry by O.P. Agarwal and Tata McGraw Hill publishers.

For the general knowledge section, prepare from books on the subject by O.P. Khanna and Maniram Agarwal.
