Pollock, Oram join IPL

New Delhi: South Africa allrounder Shaun Pollock, his New Zealand counterpart Jacob Oram and Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar have signed up for the IPL Twenty20 series, organisers said on Tuesday. Their inclusion takes to 25 the number of foreign players who have committed to the league .

Woolmer probe

Kingston: Jamaican Police have not ruled out the possibility of foul play in the death of Bob Woolmer, which will be the subject of a coroner’s inquest. The inquest in Kingston aims to determine whether anyone bears responsibility for the death of the 58-year-old coach.

50000th match

Mumbai: The Pura Cup match between Western Australia and New South Wales in Perth that began on Sunday had the honour of being the 50,000th match in first-class cricket history. According to the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians, the first-ever first-class match of importance was played in 1801.
