An Indian flight to Aizawl, carrying 60 passengers, returned to the city after failing to land at the destination because of bad weather on Monday. An official said the flight left Imphal for Aizawl around 12.10pm but returned to Calcutta with the Aizawl-bound passengers, who would be sent on another flight on Tuesday.
A drainage department engineer will be in the civic control room on the Puja days. This is the first time the civic body is keeping the drainage department on alert during the Puja.
The officers of Rajarhat and Baguiati police stations met on Monday to chalk out steps to ensure smooth flow of traffic on VIP Road during the Puja. Rickshaws and other slow-moving vehicles will not be allowed to cross the road after 5.30pm, said an officer.
The CIT will play music at Rabindra Sarobar every morning and evening between October 16 and 21. Urban development minister Asok Bhattacharya said Rabindrasangeet will be played from 5.30am to 7am and instrumental music from 5pm to 6.30pm.
