Khejuri ‘murder’

Tamluk, Oct. 14: The brother of the CPM local committee member killed in Khejuri last Monday has accused two Trinamul MLAs of murder in the FIR, but the CPM said they were named by “mistake”. This is the first time Egra MLA Sisir Adhikary and his son Subhendu, the Contai (South) MLA, were named in an FIR since the land war began.

Building death

Calcutta: A construc-tion material supplier’s employee apparently shot himself dead in Bhowanipore on Sunday. Tapan Pal, 35, was found dead at a construction site.

Death on tree

Krishnagar: Siraj Sheikh, 30, was electrocuted in Nadia’s Kaliagunj when he climbed a tree to get jack fruits to cook for Id guests. He had touched an overhead wire.

Ration raid

Barasat: Villagers attacked ration dealer Wahed Molla in North 24-Parganas’ Deganga. He was allegedly keeping the shop closed on days kerosene was to be distributed.
