A Bush bats for deal

New Delhi, Oct. 13: Jeb Bush, the brother of the US President, today almost borrowed Manmohan Singh’s words to praise the nuclear deal.

The agreement was “good for India, good for the US and good for the world’’, the former Florida governor said at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.

He, however, insisted he was speaking purely as a private citizen, did not represent the US government in any way, and was “very respectful of the Indian democratic process’’. He added that he hoped the process would reveal that the agreement was best for both India and the US.

A US embassy spokesperson, when contacted, said he had no comments to offer and reiterated that this was India’s internal decision.
