DMK salute
Sonia in Delhi.(PTI)

Chennai, Oct. 13 (PTI): DMK chief M. Karunanidhi today congratulated Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh for their comments on the nuclear deal and coalition dharma yesterday.

He wrote separate letters to the two leaders after they said yesterday that elections were not on the horizon and suggested the government might be willing to go slow on the nuclear deal. The DMK, a key constituent of the UPA, is against snap polls.

In his letter to the UPA chairperson, Karunanidhi said: “You have said that dharma of coalition is to work together, try and understand and accommodate each other’s view. These vibrant words speak volumes of your profound understanding of politics.”

To the Prime Minister, the DMK chief said he could see his “inner conscience” through the “pregnant words”.
