Man killed along tracks near Falakata station

Alipurduar, Oct. 11: An unidentified man was found murdered in a bush alongside the railway tracks near the Falakata station today.

A copper wire was tied around the neck of the man, his face was smashed and there were stab wounds on his chest. No sharp weapon was found, but two large stones lying near the body might have been used to hit the man on the face, said police.

Two gangmen examining the tracks between Falakata and Shalbari around 6am were the first to find the body. They informed Falakata station and soon GRP personnel and the police reached the spot. The body was sent to Jalpaiguri for post-mortem.

The man was probably in his thirties, the police added. A probe has begun.
