Cop threat

Barasat, Oct. 8: The North 24-Parganas unit of the Forward Bloc today accused police of forcing a family at gun-point to sign on a blank sheet of paper to settle a land dispute. The party said Biren Das of Gaighata, 60km from Calcutta, who was threatened, had lodged a police complaint earlier saying his relatives were felling trees on their plot. A probe was ordered today.

Midnapore: Four explosive devices were found in West Midnapore’s Belpahari on Monday night. They were planted near a CRPF camp.
