500 in protest rally

A group of about 500 took part in a rally on Tuesday to protest against the abuse of power by some national federations which have split some state associations for vested interests and to weaken different disciplines in the state. The rallyists, who walked from Harish Park to Hazra Park, comprised players and officials of table tennis, boxing, kabaddi, netball, taekwondo and hockey.

It had the support of the Bengal Olympic Association as well as state sports minister Subhas Chakraborty.
