Feel-good factor
Koneenica at The Park spa. Picture by Rashbehari Das

What: Opening of Aura, luxury day spa and gym.

Where: The Park.

When: September 29.

Spa special: Less than a week after The Park launched its salon, Aura, the spa section beside the pool followed suit. There are seven therapy rooms that “narrate the seven principle values of human life”, decorated with incense, candles, flowers, peacock feathers and figurines. Shiva and Shakti are done up in shades of blue representing truth and power, while Samridhi and Gyaan reflect wisdom through their bright yellow hues. The walls of Soundarya are done up in purple while Ananda or bliss marks the coexistence of all these values in a restful green. But Prem steals the show — a spacious couple suite with two massage beds side by side and a built-in jacuzzi.

For those who aren’t really into colour codes, any room works if a massage is what you’re seeking. “Aura creates an ambience of inspiration and relaxation as an antidote to over-stimulation and hectic everyday life, a fountain of youth for the stressed,” explains Vijay Dewan, managing director, The Park.

The signature Aura Massage is a well-balanced treatment using sesame oil to soften the skin. Exotic Dalim (pomegranate) Scrub and Mineral Body Wrap, Soul Balancing Face Massage, body polishes and contemporary massages like Swedish, Thai, Back, Scalp, Bodywork and Aromatherapy act as stress busters. Some of the delectable packs include natural bases like coconut, turmeric, papaya, Nilgiri honey, cucumber, apple and hot chocolate. There’s also an interesting Soundarya and Bachelor’s Bash session, across four and two days respectively, for brides and grooms-to-be (which explains the display of topors at the entrance). Shirodhara and Ayurveda over a period of sessions also form part of the package to “experience inner vitality and an outer glow”.

Sip ’’ bite: To complement the wholesome package, a light salad spread and cold buffet is available at the restaurant near the pool. Choose from quail eggs, brown bread, assorted antipasti, grilled avocado and more. Aura is open everyday from 8am to 9pm.

Pocket pinch: Prices of the massages start at Rs 900, body wraps begin at Rs 1,000, facials at Rs 950.

Voiceover: “Aura is all about well-being and fitness. It includes not just our treatment rooms but also the men’s day spa, open-air warm water jacuzzi and the gym. It is part of the Aqua experience,” says Siraj Mukherjee, director, training and development, The Park.
