Hunt for Air India head
New Delhi, Sept. 30: The government has set up a search panel to scout for a head for Air India. The term of the incumbent Vasudeva Thulasidas will expire early next year. The search panel is headed by cabinet secretary K. Chandrashekhar and comprises principal secretary to the Prime Minister, secretaries in the civil aviation ministry and department of personnel and training and chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board.

New Delhi, Sept. 30: Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) plans to scale up its manufacturing capacity to 20,000MW by 2012 at an investment of about Rs 6,500 crore as it seeks to gear up for the growing requirement in the electricity sector, chairman and managing director A.K. Puri said.

Mumbai, Sept. 30: The government’s plan to import 1.3 million tonnes of pulses to meet the rising demand ahead of the festival season may be hit because of the political instability in Myanmar.

New Delhi, Sept. 30: An alternative WTO-compatible mechanism to refund taxes to exporters could be in place soon. The commerce ministry has issued a cabinet note proposing to merge the duty entitlement passbook scheme with the drawback scheme.
Steel meet
New Delhi, Sept. 30:
An inter-ministerial group, set up to implement various projects in the steel sector, will meet within 10 days to discuss the stumbling blocks to the estimated investments of Rs 2,76,880 crore in the next five years.
