ER shock Peerless

Eastern Railway rode Anthony Soren’s strike in the second-half to stun Peerless 1-0, in the first match of the second phase of the IFA Premier Division League at Kalyani stadium on Friday. At Barasat stadium, 10-man Calcutta Port Trust held GeorgeTelegraph to a 1-1 draw. Goalkeeper Prasanta Dora was shown the red card for stopping the ball outside his area after first 10 minutes. George Telegraph missed a couple of chances before Koushik Prasad gave Port the lead from the spot. Nuruddin Salau scored the equaliser.

Dipak surgery

Dr Anant Joshi operated on Dipak Mondal’s injured left knee at a city nursing home on Friday morning. He is expected to be back in action after four months.

Tennis meet
