Fuel price hike
New Delhi, Sept. 19: High global crude
prices, which have touched $82 a barrel, may lead to a hike
in domestic petrol and diesel price. “The petroleum ministry
has moved a cabinet note for raising fuel prices but a decision
will depend on what allies of the ruling alliance say,”
an official said.
Nagarjuna
Mumbai, Sept. 19: Nagarjuna Construction,
along with South Korea-based Posco, has bagged a Rs 1,558-crore
contract from Steel Authority of India Ltd for its IISCO
Steel Plant at Burnpur.
Vodafone
New Delhi, Sept. 19: Hutch has been
re-branded as Vodafone. It marks the completion of the UK-based
company’s acquisition of Hutchison Telecommunication’s Indian
assets.
FIPB move
New Delhi, Sept. 19: The Foreign Investment
Promotion Board (FIPB) will tomorrow take up a proposal
by Maruti to form a joint venture for setting up an exhaust
parts manufacturing facility. It will also look into another
proposal by Citigroup Global Services to form a subsidiary
for investing in SEZs.
Duty repealed
New Delhi, Sept. 19: The imports of
all goods covered under VAT, especially computers and mobiles,
may become marginally cheaper as the government has withdrawn
a 4 per cent special additional duty on all VAT-paid imports.
