Small unit policy

New Delhi, Sept. 18: In a move to boost the micro and small industries, the government today came out with a draft policy that makes it mandatory for the government departments and PSUs to buy 20 per cent of their requirements from small scale industrial units. The policy, cleared by the high-level national board of micro, small and medium enterprises, will seek inputs from stakeholders before it is put up for the cabinet approval.

Vodafone

New Delhi, Sept. 18: Vodafone Essar will hold its second board meeting in Mumbai on September 20. The company is also gearing up to introduce the rechristened brand after Hutch’s exit from Hutchison Essar.

NACIL board

New Delhi, Sept. 18: The National Aviation Company of India Ltd (NACIL) re-constituted its board today. V. Thulasidas will be the chairman and managing Director, while Vishwapati Trivedi will be joint managing director.

JSW plant

Calcutta, Sept. 18: Sajjan Jindal group-promoted JSW Steel will seek special economic zone status for its 5,000-acre steel plant coming up at Salboni.

Growth rate

New Delhi, Sept. 18: The Planning Commission today projected an 8.5-9 per cent economic growth for this fiscal despite a slowdown in industrial growth in July. Growth in the first quarter was good, but some slowdown in the second quarter is expected, deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said.
