Kokrajhar, Aug. 24: Shan-E-Bengal, Chattisgarh, stormed into the semifinals of the 14th Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Gold Cup football meet blanking out Global Sports Club, Gossaigaon 2-0 in the third quarterfinal at Udalguri Sports Ground today.
After a barren first half, Uttam Kumar opened the account for the Chattisgarh outfit with a penalty kick in the 57th minute. Foreign recruit Ezekiel enhanced the lead in the 72nd minute.
On Thursday, Assam Rifles thrashed Kokrajhar XI 6-0 in the second quarterfinal.Johny Kharluki opened the account for the paramilitary outfit in the fifth minute itself.
Striker Akum Ao ruffled the net for a hattrick scoring in the 28th, 42nd and 65th minutes while Nauba Singh scored a brace in the 67th and 85th minutes.
Tomorrow Nagaland Police will play Food Corporation of India SC, Guwahati, in the last quarterfinal.
