Guwahati, Aug. 20: The Assam Human Rights Commission today asked the state government for a detailed report on the recent killing of Hindi-speaking people in Karbi Anglong. It also sought information on the steps taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
The commission, in a letter to chief secretary P.C. Sarma, stated that the report should be sent to it within a month with the names and addresses of the victims, details of the compensation given to them and the rehabilitation measures taken. The notice was served after the commission took suo moto cognisance of the recent killings based on newspaper reports.
