Chakradharpur, Aug. 19: Many organisations have worked for the welfare of tribal women and children, but this small group will be featured in a book by the United Nations. And a National Geographic award winning photographer will capture their work through his lenses.

Ekjut, a non-government organisation (NGO), which has been working for improving maternal health among tribals of Jharkhand and Orissa for the past three years, will be featured in the World Press Photo Book inspired by the UN Millennium Development Goal.

The work of this Chakradharpur-based NGO will be featured in the photo book inspired through the lenses of renowned photographer Sudharak Olwe.

This is the only NGO from the country whose work will be featured in the book to be released next year.

The book will be published jointly by United Nations Organisation (UNO) and World Press Photo (WPP), Netherlands.

Olwe, the National Geographic Award winner for his work on the life of workers in Mumbai, is here to capture the work done by Ekjut among the tribal population.

This is the second visit of Olwe in connection with the book. He had been here earlier this month and had spent about a week visiting remote areas of Chakradharpur.

Along with the each photograph he will give a brief note about the NGO, which has come up after three years of research on the conditions of tribal women and children.
