AHA chief

Nagaon: Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was elected president of the Assam Hockey Association in the annual general meeting of the association held at Nurul Amin Stadium on Sunday.

Table tennis

Guwahati: Assam boys annexed team titles in both sub-junior and junior events in the North East Table Tennis Cha-mpionship at Shillong from August 8 to 10.

Archery meet

Guwahati: The annual general meeting of the Archery Association of Assam will beconvened at Langhin in Karbi Anglong district on Saturday. The AGM will elect a new executive body for the next term.

Football trophy

Guwahati: Machkhowa Vegetable Market Sports Club annexed the Challenger Trophy IX-a-side football title defeating New Born Star Club, Meghalaya 3-1 at Machkhowa Idgah on Saturday. For Machkhowa, Babul Ali scored two goals while Dipak Das scored one. Filson fired in the only salvo for the visitors. Babul Ali was adjudged the best player of the final. Goera Club of Meghalaya bag-ged the fairplay trophy.
