Calcutta: Dola Banerjees gold-winning performance in the Dover World Cup archery meet has added to her responsibility towards the sport.
Dola, who returned to the city from London on Tuesday evening, was welcomed by a huge crowd at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
It feels good when you see your hard work is paying off, said an emotional Dola, who was garlanded and presented bouquets.
The Baranagar lady credited Korean coach Chea Woong Lim for her Dover achievement — individual recurve gold. It was her second gold at the international level, after the triumph at the European GP in Turkey two years ago.
In the first three World Cup meets earlier this year, my performance was not satisfying… I was sixth in one meet, while in the other two I did worse, she said.
This time I made it a point to improve my performance… I was very very determined… I was desperate… I am naturally very happy to have fulfilled my dream of winning another gold, said an elated Dola.
This has added to my responsibility towards archery, she added.
Obviously, my next goal is the (Beijing) Olympics… But before that, I have to concentrate on the world championship in Dubai in November, the 27-year-old said.
Dolas next international assignment is the Asian championship in China next month.
