Student thrashed

Tamluk, July 10: Class XII student Saurav Mondal was beaten unconscious this morning by the headmaster of his school because he was not in uniform.

Saurav, a resident of Kanchannagar in Nandigram, was hospitalised with head injuries. Samar Manna, the head of Brajamohan Tiwari High School, apologised to Saurav’s father.

Midnapore: The secretary of the CPM’s Kantapahari branch committee in West Midnapore’s Lalgarh was shot dead by suspected Maoists on Tuesday. Rohit Roy, 39, was returning home from a tea stall.
