PCB forced to shift camp

Karachi: Security concerns among players has forced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to shift the venue of next week’s conditioning camp from Quetta to Lahore.

A PCB spokesman said the camp, which was to begin from July 10 in Quetta, has been shifted to Lahore after consultations with the provincial authorities. “There has been a lot of rain in Quetta and the Bugti Stadium where the camp was to be held was not ready So we decided to shift it to Lahore,” PCB director of communications Ehsan Malik said on Sunday.

But sources close to the players confirmed that security concerns among the players was one of the major reasons for not holding the camp in Quetta. “Some players were worried about their security given the current situation in Quetta and the Balochistan province overall,” disclosed one source.
