Premier Div. from July 25

The CFL’s Premier Division will kick off on July 25. Though an official announcement hasn’t yet been made, IFA secretary Utpal Ganguly confirmed the date on Saturday. The league, to be held over two phases, will see East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan Sporting beginning their campaigns in July itself.

EB colts’ camp

The East Bengal colts team that will participate in the Manchester United Premier Cup in July-August will have a residential camp at Kalyani from July 9-26 under the supervision of Manojit Das and Swarup Das.

Gurpreet’s aim

Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, a silver medal winner in the National Open rowing championship in Hyderbad last year, is planning to row 70km non-stop at the Lake Club. In an attempt to get into the Limca Book of Records. “However, details are yet to be chalked out,” Gurpreet, a double’s scull oarsman, said. “ I’m hopeful of making 25 rounds — each round is 3200 metres — here.”

Schools meet

St Thomas’ Church School A and Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School won the boys and girls titles, respectively, in the first National Inter-School darts championship at the Lake Club on Saturday. While St Thomas’ Church School A beat St Thomas’ Church School B for the boys title, Gokhale Memorial HS won the title with a 2-0 win over St Thomas A. Forty schools took part in the meet.
