Militant shot dead

Dibrugarh, June 18: The army killed an Ulfa leader in Arunachal Pradesh late last night.

Troops of the 19 Kumaon Regiment gunned down the Ulfa leader, identified as self-styled second lieutenant Rudra Bora alias Bikram Bora, at Mudoighat under Diyun police station in Changlang district. “The slain rebel belonged to the 709 Battalion of the outfit and was a resident of Nagaon district,” an army official said.

Soldiers sighted the rebel in the darkness using hand-held thermal imagers, with the help of which they confirmed that he was carrying a weapon. A 7.65mm pistol, two magazines, ammunition, four fired cases and incriminating documents were recovered from his possession.
