Jamshedpur, June 5: General Manager of Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco), power services, A.N. Singh has been accused of hindering government work by snapping the power connection to the district prosecution office.
In this connection, a case has been registered under sections 353 and 186 of the Indian Penal Code with the Bistupur police on the basis of an FIR lodged by havildar Sabindra Kumar.
The FIR was, however, approved by the district prosecution officer, Virendra Kumar Prasad.
Singh told The Telegraph that he was not aware of any such development. “The district prosecution office of Jamshedpur is not a direct customer of Jusco,” he said. Moreover, he said, the informant of the case could have contacted Jusco if he/she had any grievances.
The district prosecution office is located just behind the sub-divisional office, Dhalbhum. The building accommodates the district prosecution office and chambers of assistant prosecutors, beside a godown, where confiscated material is kept inside a hall.
According to assistant prosecutor Awdhesh Kumar Singh, the district prosecution office, which is attached to the sub-divisional office, was set up about 50 years ago. Power connection to the office was snapped last week.
“We had to lodge an FIR against the top management of Jusco as we are facing problems after power supply was snapped. Such act is tantamount to hindering government duty,” said the assistant prosecutor.
