Campus call for freshers

Jamshedpur, June 4: With matriculation and intermediate results out, admissions are keeping students on their toes.

Despite disappointing results, especially in science, some once-bitten students are not twice shy. They will again opt for science. But for others, humanities and commerce are their best bet.

Intermediate admissions began today at Jamshedpur Women’s College, while undergraduate admission forms will be given from June 10. The college, which sold more than 2,000 forms, has candidates favouring economics, political science, history and commerce over other subjects.

Jamshedpur Co-operative College sold 1,500 forms, where most students are opting for science at the intermediate level followed by commerce. Intermediate forms need to be submitted by June 7, while undergraduate forms will soon be given out.

Graduate School College for Women authorities said science lacks popularity with intermediate students here. “Science is for the meritorious few,” said Usha Shukla, a senior lecturer.

Karim City College aspirants are showing interest in zoology, mathematics and physics. College authorities will decide on the last date to give forms to undergraduate aspirants. Jamshedpur Worker’s College principal S. S. Razi said undergraduate students favour humanities but intermediate students opt for science. The college sold 1,722 forms for its intermediate courses.
