Sanjay Dutt (in picture) and his three friends have been summoned by the special anti-terror court on Friday as two other accused in the Bombay blasts case were given life sentence on Thursday.
However, it is unclear if judge Pramod Kode will give a decision on the actors probation plea.
Dutt and his friends, all convicted under the arms act, had applied for release under the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958, on the ground of good conduct.
Kode made it clear that only those who have not been convicted under the anti-terror law would be given the benefit of the probation act. This makes Dutt and his friends eligible.
In an informal discussion with defence lawyers earlier, Kode had said he would take up Dutts case towards the end of the sentencing process.Seven convicts were sentenced on Thursday, taking the tally to 58. Another 42 are yet to be sentenced, including 20 accused of planting the RDX-laden vehicles at 13 spots on March 12, 1993. So, it is likely that Dutts plea would be heard next week.
