The grizzly bear found in North America is one busy bear during summer. It spends the entire season eating various items, right from plant material such as roots, fruits, and nuts to insects, fish and meat of dead animals.
The grizzly bear is North America’s biggest predator. But it rarely hunts down prey like the White-Tailed Deer as deer are too fast, especially on open ground. Of course, a bear can be pretty fast as well. However, sometimes it can catch them by surprise, and this kind of kill provides additional nutrition. Its sense of smell is good but its eyesight and hearing are not. Hence, the grizzly relies a lot on its sense of smell to obtain food.
A grizzly bear’s favourite food is honey, which is a rich source of energy. Unfortunately, in its quest for food, it sometimes gets too close to humans. This can lead to a conflict between the two which is bad for both — humans and bears.
