Widow notice

New Delhi, May 15 (PTI): Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Centre on a woman’s plea seeking the government’s help to bring home the body of her husband, who was murdered in Italy about six months ago.

The court asked the Centre’s counsel to seek instructions from the ministry of external affairs on the matter and file a reply. It also issued a notice to Delhi police on Anita Gupta’s petition.

Anita, from Dwarka, has accused authorities of not taking steps to bring home the body of husband Ram Chander.

It is lying in a mortuary in Modena, north Italy, since November 13 last year. Anita’s counsel told the court that the family has been waiting to perform the last rites.

Anita said her husband went to Italy in 1996 after their marriage. He was working as a manager in a company there when he was murdered.
