Jamshedpur, May 15: In an attempt to provide artistes an international platform to showcase their talents, Tribal Cultural Society (TCS) has tied up with rangSutra, a forum of artistes from different corners of the country.
A Delhi-based group of artistes, rangSutra, has finished initial talks with the city-based NGO to provide professional help to artistes in their creation of handicraft products through several training programmes to be conducted by rangSutra.
Confirming the tie-up, Sumita Ghose, head of rangSutra, told The Telegraph over phone from Delhi that they have asked the city group to send them a few products for them to choose suitable channels to market their handmade products.
“We have asked them to send us a few samples following which we would decide on the kind of exposure these artisans might need to come out with bulk products,” said Sumita Ghose, head of the group which works with over 1,000 artisans in India.
Currently, rangSutra is also moving to foreign countries to train artisans.
“We are looking forward to international exposure for all artistes associated with us as there is a huge demand of these locally-made handicraft products in foreign countries,” said Ghose.
Professional help would come in plenty after the formal tie-up between the two groups.
“We are looking at a lot of professional help, our artistes need to imbibe the final finishing touches to add to the appeal of their products,” said R.K Singh, head of Tribal Services at TCS.
This collaboration automatically would ensure a lot of help for artistes of the three districts of East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
