20 killed in Lanka collision

Colombo, April 10 (Reuters): Twenty people burned to death and about 40 were injured when a beer truck and a passenger bus collided and caught fire in southern Sri Lanka, police said today.

“It was a head-on clash in a bend. Both vehicles caught fire,” the police said.

Awami anger

Dhaka (Reuters): The Awami League dismissed on Tuesday an extortion charge against its leader, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as baseless.

Strasbourg, France (Reuters): A British woman on Tuesday lost a legal battle to have children using frozen embryos fertilised by her former partner, who no longer wants her to have his baby.
