Gang war hint in fight for lucrative bid

Jamshedpur, March 28: After a lull of about a decade, gang war apparently resumed in the steel city yesterday with two groups almost getting involved in a scuffle while trying to bag a lucrative contract from a multinational company at Sidhgora.

Following the arrest of Krishna Rao and Mukul Verma last night from Sidhgora, the police have today impounded four Scorpios used in building up their attack on the rival group at Sidhgora.

East Singhbhum Superintendent of police Pankaj Kumar Darad assured the residents of the city that appropriate action would be taken against anyone involved in any criminal activity.

Even as the police are taking steps to subdue any gang war, the rivalry between Suriya Patel-Paramjit Singh and Amlesh Singh gang is intensifying. With the gangsters’ pattern of operation changing with time, criminals have started working in syndicate. A potential gang that has come into existence here of late is that of a combination of Suriya Patel, Rajesh Kashyap and Paramjit Singh, all enjoying the patronage of criminal-turned-politician, Raja Peter.

Significantly, Suriya is now a Janata Dal(U) leader.

The rival of this group is Amlesh Singh, the brother of dreaded criminal Akhilesh Singh, now lodged in the Ranchi Central jail.

According to sources, despite being lodged in jail, Akhilesh does have a control over tender business and bags lucrative contracts to off-load them to smaller parties on commission.

Akhilesh runs the business through his elder brother Amlesh. But the syndicate of Suriya-Paramjit -Rajesh-Peter wants to grab Akhilesh’ “business empire” which has an annual turnover of almost Rs 3 crore. So, they have been targeting his brother, Amlesh, said sources.
